Find VPP programs for your home

Virtual Power Plants pay you for sharing power from your home — your battery, smart thermostat, EV, or even a smart plug. Enter your ZIP to see what's available where you live.

What is a VPP?

A Virtual Power Plant is a group of distributed home energy devices — batteries, thermostats, EV chargers — that the grid can call on during peak demand. You opt in, the grid leans on your devices for short moments, and you get paid.

How much can I earn?

Depends on the program and what devices you have. A home battery in an active VPP can earn hundreds of dollars a year in bill credits. A smart thermostat enrollment is often $25–150/year. Most programs cost nothing to join.

What does Communal Grid do?

We track every VPP program in North America and which devices each program accepts. Tell us your ZIP — we'll show you the programs available, what they pay, and how to enroll.
